Praia da Azarujinha

Tourist Guide

Praia da Azarujinha Beach, Estoril

Azarujinha is a popular beach among young locals

The 3km-promenade that starts in Praia da Conceição, in the center of Cascais, ends at this beach, located about a 10-minute walk from Estoril’s train station (if you’re coming from Lisbon, this is the start of the promenade). It’s essentially the first beach of the “Portuguese Riviera.”

Praia da Azarujinha Beach, Estoril

Azarujinha is overlooked by condos and villas

It’s linked to Praia da Poça, but if you’re coming from the train station, go up Avenida Marques Leal, then turn right on Travessa da Praia da Azarujinha and go down the stairs that descend the high stone wall.
It’s a postcard beach looking like a natural amphitheater, surrounded by a cliff topped with palm trees, condos and villas. The cliff shields it from the wind, so it’s a particularly good beach on a windy day. The sandy area isn’t very spacious, but it’s still used by young locals to practice beach soccer.
Although it’s a small beach, it has lifeguards on duty during the May-September bathing season.
